A young man in his early 20's is thanking his lucky stars after being rescued from the frigid waters off Woods Hole in Falmouth yesterday.

The Cape Cod Times says that an employee from the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution heard a man swimming and crying for help in the ocean.  He was rescued by a worker onboard the research vessel, the Atlantis.

Just before the rescue, The Steamship Authority received a call from the coastguard warning them of a boat driving in circles without anyone in it, not far from the Woods Hole area.

The unidentified man said that he was thrown from his boat but no word on exactly how. Falmouth's Fire Captain said that he suffered mild hypothermia from the temperature of the water and refused to be taken to the hospital.

The incident is under investigation.
