Woman Car-Jacked Near St. Luke’s In New Bedford Monday

She was sitting in her SUV waiting for someone when a man walked by a couple of times.  The women told police that the man then reached inside an open window, unlocked the doors and climbed in.   He had a knife and told her to drive off.

After going a few blocks, he dropped her off on Grape street before driving off.  He told her that she could find the SUV later at the McDonald's on Coggeshall Street.   As of last night, police still have not found the vehicle.

The carjacker also stole some cash from her purse before handing it back to her.   The woman was not injured.

St. Luke's says they are increasing security in light of what happened yesterday.   The man is describes as being Hispanic, about 5 feet-five inches tall, and wearing a baseball cap.
