Yesterday I took a phone call in my office from a college junior inquiring about a possible internship.  She lives and goes to school locally.  During the course of the conversation she said, "It's so strange to hear your voice on the phone.  I've been listening to you on the radio since I was a young child." My only comeback was "Thank you, but I can't be that old."   Her reply was, "Yes I think I was in the first grade, and have been listening ever since".

Ouch.   I think it was a form of compliment, probably well intended, but made me feel old for a minute or two.   Then I realized that considering the amount of time that has passed since my radio career began, her mom probably could have said the same thing, and that would be true as well.   Guess I'll accept the compliments gracefully.
