TAUNTON — Police are investigating after a Taunton man was shot in the arm while walking in the city Tuesday night.

Taunton Police Chief Edward Walsh said that at around 6 p.m., police responded to the 700 block of Bay Street for a report of a man who was shot in his left arm.

The 40-year-old Taunton resident was taken to a local hospital with injuries not believed to be life-threatening, according to police.

Officers searched the area but did not find any suspects.

Police are looking for a gray SUV or crossover SUV driven by a white male with shaggy hair.

They said the man was alone in the vehicle and fired one shot at the victim, who was walking down the street.

The vehicle was last seen driving north on Bay Street.

The shooting remains under investigation.
