A vehicle drove off West Rodney French Boulevard and into the waters off West Beach. The 24-year-old driver was rescued and the car extracted from the water.
The New Bedford Health Department has announced that several sections of East Beach located along East Rodney French Boulevard and West Beach located along West Rodney French Boulevard have been closed to swimming today, Thursday, August 24, 2017, due to elevated bacteria levels.
The New Bedford Fire and Police Departments were called to West Beach Wednesday afternoon after a report of a grenade being found on the beach.
Fire Chief Michael Gomes tells WBSM News the device found was indeed a grenade.
