A lawsuit claiming that a local asphalt company abused the court system in order to prevent competition from another firm that wanted to set up shop nearby has been allowed to proceed by the state's highest court.

A West Wareham asphalt company is facing new charges from the state after the firm, its founder and a former accountant were all indicted on tax evasion and obstruction charges for allegedly falsifying financial documents submitted to the department of revenue.

A Wareham company is being cited for more than $1.2 million in restitution and penalties for allegedly not paying its workers prevailing wages.
