Rhode Island lawmakers are reviving a bill to ban parrot sales in pet stores, but bird lovers warn it could increase illegal breeding and black-market sales.

The Southern Rhode Island community is mourning the loss of more than 80 exotic birds and animals after a fire that devastated a local parrot rescue yesterday.

A parrot worth more than $500 is missing from a Fairhaven pet store. Management believes the bird was stolen Monday afternoon.
