New Bedford is getting two new historic districts, after the city council approved a proposal from Mayor Jon Mitchell establishing them at Abolition Row and Mechanics Lane.
New Bedford was the site of an unruly meeting that led to the creation of Robert's Rules of Order, the parliamentary procedure for public meetings still in use today.
