The former captain of a New Bedford fishing boat owned by Carlos Rafael, was sentenced today in federal court for interfering with a U.S Coast Guard inspection.

A former captain with the Sheriff’s Office was sentenced Monday in connection with helping "The Codfather" Carlos Rafael smuggle profits to Portugal.

Massachusetts Environmental Police conducted an inspection aboard a scallop vessel in New Bedford. The boat was found to have more that the legal federal limit.
