One local woman wants to make sure parents don't forget their kids in the car with a car seat that actually alerts you to children left behind.

Last week's story out of Quincy where a man boarded a train and forgot that he had his infant still in the car, opened many parents eyes to the dangers of this exact thing. And he was lucky to have remembered before it was too late and get police out to his vehicle.

According to safekids.org, since 1998 the same forgetfulness has resulted in the deaths of 520 children who were left behind in their car seats.

An incident that Sue Rogers of New Bedford wants to prevent from happening again.

After hearing a similar story ten years ago, Rogers came up with a car seat design that would alert parents that their child was still there before they can even step out of the car.

Rogers concept is the Forget Me Not car seat and it features a built in speaker and weight sensor as well as wires that connect to the ignition and driver's door. She spoke with NBC 10 about the product recently and says the wires would be easy to install.

She also added that the product comes with "a device in the key that will go off."

Rogers came up with her concept over eight years ago and has already received a patent for it. Now She just needs someone to build her prototype and investors.

Seems like a very practical invention to me. Parents what do you think?
