NEW BEDFORD (WBSM) — An 18-year-old man has been arrested as New Bedford Police seized a large-capacity firearm, ammunition, marijuana and cash from a South End residence Monday.

According to police, detectives from the Organized Crime Intelligence Bureau executed a search warrant at 10 Washington Street on June 5. The target of the search, police said, was 18-year-old Victor Monteiro.

Police said that as a result of the search, Monteiro was found to be in possession of a Glock 19 9mm handgun with a partially-defaced serial number that was loaded with 13 rounds of ammunition.

They said detectives also seized 169 grams of marijuana, packaging materials and $115 in cash in the search.

Monteiro was arrested and charged with possession of a loaded firearm and a high-capacity feeding device without a license, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, and possession of ammunition. He also had an active warrant for his arrest.
