It was a ruptured gasket in a refrigeration unit that sent freon gas into the Shaw's Supermarket on Route 6 in Fairhaven right after 5 p.m. Friday.

Firefighters were called after reports of a strong odor in the store.   Once they arrived they ordered the store evacuated.   The source of the odor was located and the freon was then vented out of the store.   The store later reopened for business.
