I don't know what this says about the eating habits of Rhode Islanders, but another fast food chain is looking to open a location in the Ocean State.

It's not a restaurant I have ever heard of, but the Checkers burger chain is hoping to expand into New England and Delaware and as Jennifer Durham, the vice president of franchise development told WPRO-AM, they "absolutely" are looking to bring a drive-thru location to Rhode Island.

Currently the closest Checkers is in New York, but a new deal with a new distribution partner means expansion is coming soon and the folks at Checkers say they want to be in Rhode Island by 2016.

Durham says franchise approvals usually take about 12 months and they still haven't found their perfect location, so perhaps a summer 2016 opening for Checkers will be in Rhode Island's fast food future.

And as for what to try when they do open...those around Fun 107 that have tried Checkers before say their fries are absolutely amazing!
