Martial arts are an ancient method of training your mind, body and spirit to act as one. Getting your child involved at a young age could lead to a number of desired outcomes. Plus, what better way to channel all of that high energy every kid seems to have?  Here are 5 things your child will learn through a Martial Arts program.

Fitness
Martial artists are known for being physically fit- and with all the warm-ups involved, why wouldn't they be?  Beyond the punching and kicking that probably come to mind, there’s a considerable amount of stretching and jumping in there, too.

Self Defense
The cornerstone of Martial Arts is self-defense. Knowing how to defend yourself in different ways for different situations is really important. Kids can learn how to handle problems effectively and even avoid them altogether.

Self Discipline
We all wish we had more mental focus and with martial arts- your child can learn how to concentrate on a task and see it through to the end.  Dojos have firm rules about customs and uniforms and learning how to respect and follow the rules often spills over into other areas of a child’s life- like homework!

Respect
One of the primary lessons to be learned in the dojo is respect. Children learn to bow to their masters and instructors along with treating other students how they wish to be treated.  Respect is instructed regularly.

Self Confidence
Ever achieve a goal and walk away feeling on top of  the world?  A child who makes their way through the belt ranging system is often a very self-confident child because they have attained many small goals that have led to a great sense of accomplishment. Who doesn’t want their child to feel that way?
