According to the Cape Cod Times, a 54-year-old West Yarmouth man plead not guilty in Barnstable District Court on Wednesday to charges that he has been defecating in public at Seaview Beach for three months.

Yes, for three months human poo has been found again and again at the South Yarmouth beach. And after a lengthy Department of Natural Resources investigation, the alleged perpetrator was placed in custody yesterday.

According to court documents, Yarmouth Natural Resources Officer Timothy Parsons arrived at the beach on Wednesday morning at 5 a.m., hoping to catch the public pooper.

actually witnessed him put down his beer, lower his pants and leave a bowel movement on the steps

In his report, Parsons wrote that within a half hour he noticed George Packer on the stairs of the beach with a beer in his hand. The officer recognized him as the man he had seen in surveillance videos and then he actually witnessed him put down his beer, lower his pants and leave a bowel movement on the steps!

Parsons then came over to Packer and announced himself as law enforcement eventually arresting the West Yarmouth resident for open and gross lewdness and drinking alcohol in public.

His report also says he asked Packer why he was doing what he was doing, to which the reply was

I don’t know, I just like to walk on the beach and then I have to go and so I go on the steps.”

The report also points out that a Port-o-Potty is less than 10 feet from the steps Packer was defecating on.

Packer will be back in court for a pretrial hearing on June 29th.
