Students and staff from the Rogers School and the Wood School (temporarily attending Oxford School) spent some time today signing their names on beams that will be permanent fixtures at Fairhaven's new Wood School. Listen to Principal Amy Hartley-Matteson addressing the children in front of the two beams that were laying inside a trailer:

To make sure the significance of the moment wasn't lost on the K-5th graders, Ms. Hartley-Matteson outlined it to the kids:

About 460 students and the staff from both the Rogers and Woods Schools signed the beams which will be featured in the Media Center/Library of the 25 million dollar school set to open it's doors in the Fall of 2013.

Fourth grader Oliver Slavin told me what he's looking forward to most in the new Wood School.
