Fall River police and firefighters were called to The Cove Restaurant this afternoon after a car nearly went into the Taunton River with a woman still inside.

The Fall River Reporter initially reported that a car had gone in the water outside The Cove Restaurant on Saturday afternoon, but police say the car did not actually end up in the water...though it was close.

According to The Fall River Herald, a man and woman were in the car in the parking lot outside The Cove Restaurant when the car stopped running.

They tried to then push the car, but the driver was unable to steer and the vehicle rolled onto the edge of the stone wall by the river.

Once on the wall, the car teetered over the edge, but never actually fell into the water.

The driver managed to jump free of the vehicle, but his passenger was not as lucky.

Police and firefighters were then called to the scene to help the woman out of the car.

She did not sustain any injuries and a tow truck then pulled the car back onto solid ground.
