Woman Found Dead After New Bedford Fire Identified by Authorities

NEW BEDFORD — The woman who was found dead after a fire in a New Bedford home over a week ago has been identified.

The Bristol County District Attorney's Office says the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has identified the woman as Lisa Ann Mayo, 51, of 25 Sycamore Street.

Mayo was found dead in her apartment after firefighters extinguished an early morning fire at the home on October 6th.

The District Attorney's Office says while Mayo's death does not appear suspicious, the investigation into the cause of the fire remains open.
