You're not alone! Grande herself doesn't even understand them!

According to TIME Magazine, Grande admitted that she didn't want to sing the silly lyrics at all and that it was her producer Max Martin who made her do it.

“I fought him on it the whole time,” she told TIME.

Eventually, she learned to love the song and the lyrics and understood where Martin was coming from. “I was like, whatever, let’s do it and have some fun,” Grande said.

If you really listen to the lyrics, they are in fact pretty weird.

"Now that I’ve become who I really are” and “I only wanna die alive” are two of the weirdest ones I've heard in there. Totally grammatically incorrect, but I guess that doesn't change how catchy of a song it is.  Plus, it's pretty cool she can admit that the words make no sense...I thought I was the only one who noticed!
