It was announced that White’s Family Fun and Sports Center is re-opening today, June 2.

It was just a year ago that FUN 107 reported that White’s Family Fun and Sports Center was closing after 20 years of business. A New Bedford couple, Todd and Michelle Soares, are the new owners of the mini amusement park located at 211 Middle Road in Acushnet.

The new name of the business is the True Swing Batting Cages, due to the owner’s initial interest in renting the batting cages behind the restaurant.

“We originally looked at leasing just the batting cage operation,” Michelle told SouthCoast Today, “The Whites asked us if we would be interested in taking over the whole thing, and we decided we were willing to give it a shot,” she explained.

There will be many of the same attractions like the game room and restaurant, but the driving range and bumper boats will no longer be running.

Michelle says that a winner in The Food Network’s “Chopped” chef competition helped create the restaurant menu while a veteran cook will run the kitchen.
