In a week where Bill Cosby was sentenced for sexual assault and the U.S. Senate heard allegations that Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh sexually assaulted one or more women in his youth, many survivors still need to know where to turn.

For those who have survived sexual violence and their loved ones, knowing where to go for support, both personal and legal, is incredibly important.

So we've complied the local resources women on the SouthCoast can turn to in both the immediate aftermath and the long-term.

The Women's Center - With locations in both New Bedford and Fall River, the Women's Center is the place for women on the SouthCoast to turn in the aftermath of sexual assault.

Their offices offer legal support, medical support, group counseling and crisis intervention. Plus they have staff fluent in English, Spanish and Portuguese.

They also provide a 24-hour hotline at 508-999-6636.

Jane Doe Inc - The Massachusetts Coalition Against Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence operates out of Boston, but also provides a toll-free hotline 24-hours a day. They can be reached at 877-785-2020.

RAINN - the National Sexual Abuse Hotline run by the Rape, Assault & Incest National Network can be reached anytime at 1-800-656-4673 (HOPE). In addition to their hotline offering support, information, advice and referrals, RAINN also offers info on prevention, policy and activism.
