My wife and I play an unspoken game every fall. We try not to turn the heat on until November 1st, but without warning, she blew it yesterday!

She literally had the air conditioning on last week when the temperatures rose into the 80's. But there we were yesterday, getting ready to turn on the TV  to watch football, and she fired up the pellet stove and cranked it up.

The pact was broken.

I was hoping that we would at least get a few more days of that glorious in-between period where you don't need to run the air conditioners and you don't need to heat up the house. I mean, would it be out of line to throw on a sweatshirt, or break out a blanket?

It is not about the money (well, I mean it's KINDA about the money), but more so it is about winning. My wife and I are competitive, and I enjoy seeing how long we can go without turning on the heat.

To add insult to injury, I walked upstairs last night to go to bed, and my daughter had her air conditioner on! So while part of the house was getting heat, her room was getting air conditioning.

Good thing we're looking into getting solar!
