What is Hixville — Isn’t It Still Just Dartmouth?

Driving along 195, you really cant miss the sign. That sign that tells you that you are way out in the sticks, or apparently a place called Hixville.

The real question is why Hixville? I'm pretty sure that its a part of Dartmouth, and yet we all snicker at the sign as we drive under it. Is it really far out of the way? Or is it filled with people from the South. I am really confused..just a thought.
