Leonard Bettencourt retired from his teach job on Friday. "Mr. B" has taught metal shop at Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational Technical High School for the past 30 years. He took the job when he was 62 years old.

Bettencourt is very popular with the faculty and students alike. They say he smiles a lot and is very patient. He actually lost part of his index finger at the school in 1985 when a student accidentally plugged in a shearing machine while Bettencourt was adjusting the blade.

He has also survived a heart aneurysm. Blessings and best of luck in your well-deserved retirement Mr. Bettencourt
