WAREHAM — A Brockton man is arrested in Wareham after giving police what they say was a somewhat phony story about an alleged robbery.

Wareham Police responded to a report of an armed robbery in the area of Roundhill Boulevard on Wednesday. At the scene, officers met Vaughn White, 19, of Brockton, who claimed that he and his friend had been robbed at gunpoint by two men.

During the investigation, police found a number of inconsistencies in White's story. Police arrested White and found a large amount of marijuana and ammunition in his vehicle.

White is charged with possession of a Class D substance and illegal possession of ammunition. He is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday in Wareham District Court.

Police say the alleged robbery was not a random act and the investigation is ongoing.
