On Friday, a jury convicted a 23-year old Wareham man of first degree murder of a New Bedford man and sentenced him to life in prison.

According to southocasttoday.com, Darius Gamboa was sentenced yesterday in Fall River's Superior Court by Judge Renee Dupuis.  The trial has been ongoing and a final verdict came down at 3:30pm Friday afternoon.

If you remember back to July 6th 2012, 31-year old Julio Barbosa of New Bedford was shot and killed outside of the 7-Eleven at Cove Rd and Rodney French Boulevard in New Bedford.

The shooter, Darius Gamboa was waiting in the parking lot as his father Ryan Gamboa chased Barbosa through the store and then through the parking lot with a knife.  Once he was outside of the store, Darius Gamboa shot Barbosa once in the back, killing him.

His life sentence starts immediately and his fathers trial starts next week, also in Fall River Superior Court.
