A favorite local ice cream shop plans to close down for the Fourth of July.

It's going to be a hot Independence Day this year, but there'll be one less place to grab an ice cream this Wednesday.

Kool Kone in Wareham took to Facebook to let customers know that for the first time in their history, they will close for July 4.

No word on why they are declaring their independence from scooping ice cream this Fourth, but whatever the reason most Facebook fans seemed to support the decision.

Lots of people happily told them to enjoy their Fourth, while others credited them for letting their employees enjoy the holiday, too.

Of course, there were a few naysayers, some more harsh than others, but all clearly upset about not getting their delicious fried clams and ice cream for a single day.

But no matter how you may feel about the news, the fact remains Kool Kone will not open on the Fourth of July this year.

You can still stop in and grab dinner and ice cream on July 3 and July 5, but you'll have to find another place to get an ice cream cone on Independence Day.
