Investigators in hazmat suits were seen on Pleasant Street in Fall River today.

Fall River police and fire departments were called to 1112 Pleasant St this afternoon because of a hazmat incident behind a car dealership.

The Herald News reports that investigators with the Massachusetts Hazardous Materials Response Team were on hand to deal with what is currently being called "an unknown substance."

Investigators in white hazmat suits were spotted at the car dealership around 3 p.m. but details so far remain scarce.

The Herald spoke with District Fire Chief Jim Mellen who told them the substance was "unknown" at this point and had not been deemed hazardous. He added that if the substance was found to be hazardous, a criminal investigation might follow.
