Fourth of July comes once a year right? Wouldn't you expect a tremendous, fantastic display of fireworks celebrating our nation's birthday? That didn't happen last night at UMass Dartmouth.

I can already hear some of you saying, "Oh, they weren't that bad Larry." Okay. I challenge you to watch the highlight reel of last night's fireworks. By the way, they started at 9:30pm, when they were listed at 9:15pm. The difference? I guess it wouldn't have mattered if it was clear, but a weird fog rolled in right around 9:30pm that just added "ooh and aah" to the display of nonsense that we experienced.

I say this, because I'm an aggravated parent. I bring my son to see some fireworks, and he gets this? I know I'm not the only one, because 5 seconds after they started, half the crowd got up and left. Perfectly clear until 9:30, and then they set them off. Someone made a bad call.

I would have preferred some announcement saying, "It's a little foggy right now. Let's reschedule these, and not waste our fireworks budget for the year." But no. I guess it wasn't a total loss. Whoever was directly underneath them got a great view, but for the rest of us, FAIL!

Watch the colorful thunder below.
