Of all the cities and towns in Massachusetts, two here on the Southcoast are among those with the highest percentage of population living below poverty level.

According to the Census Bureau's American Community Survey 5-Year Estimates, both Fall River and New Bedford are among the 10 cities in Massachusetts with the most poverty.

WCVB.com reports that Fall River is the 5th most poverty stricken city in the state with 23.4% of the population living below poverty level.

New Bedford is close behind in the 6th spot with 23.3% of people living below poverty level.

Holyoke was the most poverty stricken town in the state with nearly 30% of the population living below the poverty level,
