New Bedford Officials Thursday said that two people in the North End were exposed to rabies.

According to the Division of Animal Control, the two people were bitten by a rabid fox before it was captured.

The two have been notified by the City Health Department and advised to seek medical attention.

The city is urging residents of New Bedford, Freetown and Acushnet to review rabies prevention tips to protect themselves and their families.

The Division of Animal Control say residents can call (508)-991-6366 if they see an animal acting strangely or disoriented as that is often a sign that an animal is infected.
