NEW BEDFORD - Two women have been charged after both vehicles they were driving crashed into a local business.

New Bedford Police say a car traveling east on Kempton Street shortly after 12 a.m. Sunday was turning left onto Hunter Street when it was struck in the rear by another car. Both vehicles then struck Johna's Hair Salon at 756 Kempton Street.

Fire officials and building inspectors have deemed the building unsafe after the accident.

The driver of the vehicle that was rear-ended, Heidi Neimic, 46, of Fall River, has been charged with driving with a revoked license, driving an uninsured vehicle, and illegally attaching plates.

The driver of the other car, Jennifer Pimental, 35, of New Bedford, is charged with negligent operation of a motor vehicle and driving without a seatbelt.

In a Facebook post, the operators of Johna's Hair Salon say they will be operating out of a temporary location until necessary repairs are made to the Kempton Street location.
