There was a rush at the Hostess Outlet store in Wareham last Fall as America learned that one of their favorite snack cakes would be disappearing. Many speculated that the Twinkie name had too much brand power to simply go away quietly. They were right.

A private, family run equity firm has teamed up with Apollo Global Management to purchase Hostess Brands at the bargain basement price of $410 Million Dollars. To put that in perspective, that's only about 1/3 of the value that Forbes places on the Boston Red Sox.

The best news is that we can expect to see Twinkies, Hostess Cupcakes and Ding Dongs on store shelves by the summertime.
