Could table games be in the future for Newport Grand? With Twin River announcing plans to purchase the casino, it's very possible.

The Twin River Management Group has announced that they've entered into an agreement to purchase Newport Grand Casino with an expected close date on the sale of June 30, 2015.

So will that mean big changes this summer? Not necessarily.

The chairman of the board of directors of Twin River Worldwide Holdings, John E. Taylor, Jr., told NBC 10 that the company would not seek to offer table games at Newport Grand without broad based community support. And they wouldn't be pursuing a ballot measure to gauge that support until the 2016 general election.

So after regulatory approvals by the Rhode Island Department of Business Regulation and the Division of Lotteries, as well as other closing conditions, it looks for the immediate future things at Newport Grand will stay pretty much the same.

Still the sale of the casino to company with headquarters in Rhode Island is great news for Newport Grand. As Mr. Taylor said, they "believed that [they] might be best qualified to preserve and possibly enhance...revenue and protect valuable jobs.”

Music to the ears of hundreds of employees at Newport Grand I'm sure.
