Fun 107 is dedicated to Breast Cancer Awareness Month. We'll spotlight some of the ways SouthCoast businesses recognize Breast Cancer Awareness during the month of October. If your business is doing something for Breast Cancer Awareness, please feel free to share by emailing rock@fun107.com. While we won't be able to cover every effort, we'll select and highlight some.

As you know, I am a huge fan of Turk's Seafood, and I have been for more than two decades. I thought it would be fun to share some of what they are doing in October. This Thursday, in the Turk's bar, they'll be sampling Beefeater Pink, a new strawberry flavored gin. Tara, the head bartender at Turk's, will be creating a martini called the Pink Lady--fresh lemon, agave nectar and Beefeater Pink gin.

They'll also be sampling a 7 Moons Red Blend, which pairs well with Turk's sushi as the temperature outside starts to drop for the fall.

However you choose to recognize Breast Cancer Awareness month, please make sure to spread the word about the importance of getting examined regularly. The Dana Farber Cancer Institute says while self-screening can be helpful, it is probably not the most effective method to ensure you are not developing breast cancer in its early stages. Dana Farber says "Many guidelines do recommend self-exams, but they should complement and not replace appropriate screenings from your doctor."
