On Saturday, someone broke into the refrigerated storage unit outside of Saint Anthony of Padua Church on Acushnet Avenue in New Bedford.   The thief or thieves not only made off with 20 turkeys and 150 pounds of cheese, they also damaged the door of the unit.

The food was meant to be given for those in need for Thanksgiving and Christmas.  The church says the food stolen was valued at about $500.

Some local organizations have already stepped-up with donations after the robbery.  If you'd like to help as well, please call the St. Anthony rectory at 508-993-1691.
