A tropical storm could be impacting New England this Labor Day weekend and boaters are being warned.

The National Weather Service has issued a "Hazardous Weather Outlook" for much of Southern New England Sunday night through Tuesday.

Though the impact of Tropical Storm Hermine is still unclear right now, the NWS does say the impact will likely be strongest along the Southcoast.

Heavy rains and gusty winds are expected, which could cause local flooding as well as power outages.

The Coast Guard is also asking boaters and swimmers to be on alert as strong rip currents and rough surf are expected as well.

Mariners are asked to take precautions like checking life jackets, proper signaling and communications equipment and are urged to avoid any unnecessary trips to sea.

Swimmers, kayakers, paddle boarders and the like are also being reminded to carry safety equipment with them if they must be out.
