A list was made of each state's best Thanksgiving Day dish to represent the area, and New Bedford's Portuguese community brought the chouriço.

The New York Times created the list of recipes from all 50 states, including D.C. and Puerto Rico. What made Massachusetts' evocative recipe?

Being the state that brought America Thanksgiving, this dish had to be a good one. Not just any food could represent the Commonwealth for Thanksgiving, and the New York Times got it right.

It's Clam and Chouriço dressing, baby! New Bedford's Portuguese community finally gets some national recognition for their delicious food.

The New York Times article says that using the Mexican sausage chorizo is an "acceptable substitute" but it's not. Only the purest chouriço should be used for all things Portuguese, but I'm sure our listeners on the South Coast already knew that.
