Why should local residents care that Pittsburgh Steelers top running back DeAngelo Williams will not be playing in the team's wild card round playoff match up against the Cincinnati Bengals at 8 pm tonight? Simple; it opens the door for former Dartmouth High football star Jordan Todman.

Yes, that's right. With Williams out due to injury, Todman, who was signed by Pittsburgh just before the start of the regular season, could finally get a chance to show what he's got on a national stage.

The 25-year-old, who seemed to flourish a bit the past two years with Jacksonville, has been limited to just four carries for 22 yards this season.

Part of that can be attributed to being the low man on the totem pole behind Le'Veon Bell and Williams, who took over the full-time duties after Bell was lost for the season due to injuries. Part can also be attributed to the fact that Pittsburgh has one of the top quarterbacks in the league in Ben Roethlisberger and a pretty fearsome group of receivers.

Serving mainly as the up back on kickoff returns this season, the fourth year pro should at least get a few touches tonight.

When Williams was lost to injury early last week, the team seemed to stray from the run a bit and gave second year back Fitzgerald Toussaint all of the work from there. Toussaint carried the ball 12 times for 24 yards overall.

Pittsburgh's game plan going into this week is probably a pass heavy attack, but they'll still have to run the ball a bit to balance out the passing game. With that being said, Todman is due for some offensive action.

Maybe tonight is the night that the rest of the country figures out what people on the South Coast already know; Jordan Todman is a play maker.
