Summer weather may have just arrived, but one local beach will be off limits for a while.

Tiverton police announced earlier today that local favorite, Grinnell's Beach will be closed for the foreseeable future.

As they explained on their Facebook page, the beach is undergoing construction and to ensure that no beach-goer gets hurt, they have shut the area down completely while the work is being done.

As the Providence Journal reported, a stone wall at the beach is being removed to make way for repairs to Stone Bridge and the area is still under major construction.

Now that the weather has warmed up and more people were heading to the beach, police grew concerned that injuries may occur.

They have decided to close Grinnell's Beach until further notice and are ramping up security measures, including police presence, at the beach to ensure no one violates the restriction.

The small, riverfront beach on Main Rd is a popular spot for beach-goers and fishermen. No word on how long it will remain off limits.
