On August 25, 2001, the plane that was carrying R&B princess Aaliyah—who, at the time, was on top of the world with her hit album Aaliyah—crashed on its way back from a music video shoot in the Bahamas. Aaliyah, only 22 at the time, was killed in the crash, and the world hasn't stopped mourning the tragic loss since.

One of the individuals who was impacted deeply by Aaliyah's untimely death was her friend, producer, and musical collaborator Timbaland. Over the years, the producer has often been asked by fans if he has access to any unreleased songs from the R&B singer, and according to a post on his Instagram account yesterday, the answer is literally "YES!!!!!!!!"

Timbo posted an ethereally angelic photo of the late R&B singer's face surrounded by blue skies and clouds on Saturday, captioning it excitedly, "Attention!!!!! People ask me all the time do I have any babegirl music we haven't heard !!!!!well the answer is YES!!!!!!!! TIMBO x BABEGIRL !!!!! Sneak peak coming !!!!!!! [sic]" See below:

We have a feeling this news is going to be polarizing—either people fans are going to be really, really stoked to hear new music from the inimitable Aaliyah, who just last year was made the subject of a Lifetime biopic, or people are going to be very torn on the ethics of releasing music from an artist who has passed away. After all, the latter has become a hot subject of debate in the music industry; recently, Amy Winehouse's label CEO David Joseph called his decision to destroy the late singer's recorded demos "a moral thing" in an interview with Billboard.

No matter what happens, Aaliyah was truly one in a million, and we can only hope that any previously unreleased music that may surface will be just as special as gems like "Try Again" and "Are You That Somebody."
