One big tip they gave for women was to make sure that you get your thyroid checked. If your thyroid has problems, you won't lose weight no matter what - either that or it will be very hard to do so and maintain that weight loss.
The other tips had to do with your mental and emotional state. If you're unhappy, weight loss will be tough, so get yourself in check!
