VERONA, N.Y. - A New York State Thruway crash that killed three people from Massachusetts is under investigation.

New York State Police say Wednesday morning one car crashed and rolled over between the Vernon-Verona-Rome exit and the Canastota exit.

Police say passengers Maria Braga, 81, of Fall River, and David Botelho, 73, and Isabel Botelho, 72, both of Westport, all died in the crash.

The elderly driver, 81-year-old Joao Braga, was taken to a hospital in Syracuse but his condition isn't known.

New York State Police say it appears the driver lost control of the car, causing the rollover. The accident remains under investigation.
