The State Medical Examiner's Office has taken custody of three bodies after New Bedford emergency personnel reported three separate fatalities in the city Thursday.

New Bedford Police say they responded to the House of Hope on Mt. Pleasant Street early Thursday morning for a report of a 38-year-old man that was not breathing. Medics arrived on the scene before 7am and reported the man was deceased in his bed.

Later Thursday night, police responded to reports of an unresponsive 36-year-old woman in the 300 block of Orchard Street. She was not breathing when police arrived. She was transported to St. Luke's Hospital where she was pronounced dead at 8:38pm.

Within the hour, police responded to a possible overdose death in the 100 block of Clark Street. The victim, a 47-year-old New Bedford man, was found on the bathroom floor at 8:35pm. Evidence of drug use was found near the body.

New Bedford Detectives are investigating all three fatalities.
