NEW BEDFORD - Three men are arrested after reports of gunfire from a vehicle near New Bedford's South End Tuesday night.

New Bedford Police say they received reports that a gun was shot into the air from a vehicle in the area of Bluefield Street and Rockdale Avenue just after 11 p.m.

Police responded to the area and found the suspect vehicle and a live .22 round of ammunition. A search of the area turned up a Walther P22 firearm with four rounds of ammunition.

Police arrested Jonathan Enrique Vale, 36 and Elijah Cruz, 24, both of New Bedford. Vale and Cruze both face charges of carrying a loaded firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building.

Also arrested was Luis Miguel Carela, 25, of Fall River. Carela is charged with carrying a loaded firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition.
