There are so many great events going on during the holiday season. It’s probably impossible to do them all, but here is a little guide on all the great things happening in and around New Bedford this month.

South End Business Association Tree Lighting
Dec. 4: Reading of “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” at 4 p.m. with tree lighting at 5:30 p.m. Howland Green Library, 3 Rodney French Blvd., New Bedford.

Fairhaven Old-Time Holiday Weekend
Dec. 7-9. Holiday marketplaces and craft fairs, pancake breakfast, book fair and more. For children, there are craft making a cookie decorating opportunities and many chances for photographs with Santa or Father Christmas. ‘Miracle on 34th Street’
Burt Wood School of the Performing Arts: “Miracle on 34th Street,” 7:30 p.m. Dec. 7-8 and Dec. 14-15, 3 p.m. Dec. 9. Tickets $15 and can be purchased at (508) 946-1071; “Building Life Skills and Relationships Through the Arts,” eight week course. Meets 3:30-4:30 p.m. through Dec. 10. $160. 21st Annual Holiday House Tour
Presented by the New Bedford Preservation Society. Visit restored historic 19th century homes, all decked out for the holidays. Candlelight tour 4-8 p.m. Dec. 8; afternoon tour, 1-5 p.m, Dec. 9. Holiday raffles will also be available. Tickets $17 for society members, $19 for general admission. Tickets day-of are $23. Buttonwood Park Zoo: Holiday ZOObilee
11 a.m.-4 p.m. Dec. 8, 15 and 22. Enjoy train and carousel rides, caroling with animals, hot chocolate and more. Admission charge. New Bedford.

‘A New England Nutcracker’
New Bedford Ballet: Announce performances of “A New England Nutcracker,” 1:30 and 3 p.m. Dec. 8, 9, 15 and 16; 6:30 and 8 p.m. Dec. 14. Tickets are $10 adults, $5 seniors, students and children. New Bedford Ballet Community Theatre, 2343 Purchase St., New Bedford.

South Central /South First Association tree lighting
Tuesday, Dec. 11, 4:30 p.m. at Monte Park on the corner of Russell Street and Acushnet Avenue, New Bedford.

Rockdale Avenue Neighborhood Association tree lighting
Thursday, Dec. 13, 6:30 p.m. at Harrington Park, corner of Court Street and Liberty Street (across from Hathaway School), New Bedford.

Bullard Street Neighborhood Association tree lighting
Saturday, Dec. 15, 6 p.m., at Riverside Park on the corner of Belleville Avenue and Coffin Avenue, New Bedford.
