South End Business Association Tree Lighting
Dec. 4: Reading of “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” at 4 p.m. with tree lighting at 5:30 p.m. Howland Green Library, 3 Rodney French Blvd., New Bedford.

Fairhaven Old-Time Holiday Weekend
Dec. 7-9. Holiday marketplaces and craft fairs, pancake breakfast, book fair and more. For children, there are craft making a cookie decorating opportunities and many chances for photographs with Santa or Father Christmas. 'Miracle on 34th Street'
Burt Wood School of the Performing Arts: "Miracle on 34th Street," 7:30 p.m. Dec. 7-8 and Dec. 14-15, 3 p.m. Dec. 9. 21st Annual Holiday House Tour
Presented by the New Bedford Preservation Society. Visit restored historic 19th century homes, all decked out for the holidays. Candlelight tour 4-8 p.m. Dec. 8; afternoon tour, 1-5 p.m, Dec. 9. 'A New England Nutcracker'
