After 50 years of losing a transit connection between New Bedford and Nantucket, the SeaStreak Fast Ferry has reestablished that round trip once more.

Plans to start the route will begin next spring with two daily weekday round trips Monday through Thursday and three weekend daily round trips Friday through Sunday.

This would help with the traffic heading eastbound into the Cape and would make travel between the islands of the cape much easier and take some of the car congestion off the roads of Hyannis and surrounding towns.

According to John Silvia, Operations Manager of the SeaStreak New Bedford, he was very pleased with the progress the Fast Ferry has made within the last four years and grateful that the bad economy at the time of the grand opening had zero effect on it's success.

Operations will begin on May 27 through Sept. 6, in 2016.
