Pope Benedict XVI First Tweets On Twitter

Pope Benedict XVI has started posting his first tweets this morning on twitter. Using the handle @Pontifex which means "bridge builder" in Latin, he's already showing just under 775,000 followers.

Does this mean that he won't be coming out onto the balcony at the Vatican City during the holidays or even at Easter? Most likely not. He will still be seen by the thousands who attend, he's just the Pope who's "with it" in the social networking.

I noticed that he's only following 7 people, but when you click those people, it's just 7 different languages aside from English that share the @Pontifex handle.

It will be interesting to see if he retweets anyone's tweets. Imagine how cool would that be? I just got retweeted by the Pope! Yeah, that's bragging rights.
