It happened Wednesday night at around 11 on Brock Ave in New Bedford's south end.  Gang Unit detectives were patrolling the area when they spotted a male teen walking in a weird manner.

When they approached the 16-year-old, he took off running and a large machete fell to the ground.   When he was being chased by police, the teen threw away another knife.  He continued to struggle after being tackled by detectives, so a taser was used to subdue him.

The teen is charged with disturbing the peace while armed, resisting arrest and with carrying a dangerous weapon.   His name has not been released because he is considered a juvenile.
