Tedeschi Food Shops Inc. has been bought out by a competitor convenience store company, 7-Eleven Inc. Tedeschi’s is one of the last remaining locally owned convenience store chains in New England.

Tedeschi’s 182 stores, located in both Massachusetts and New Hampshire, will become a part of the 7-Eleven chain empire by mid-2015. As to whether or not the Tedeschi name would remain is unclear. 7-Eleven did not disclose much information during Monday afternoon’s announcement, but they assured that more details would be provided in the near future.

7-Eleven did assure that they would be extending jobs to many Tedeschi employees.

This is not the first acquisition for the Dallas based company. Just in the past few years 7-Eleven has bought out several small, regional convenience chains around the United States.

“Tedeschi is a respected brand and this acquisition fits in perfectly with 7-Eleven’s growth strategy,” Stan Reynolds, the chief financial officer of 7-Eleven, said in a statement.

Currently, they are the largest convenience store chain in the United States with over $84 billion in sales.
